Hey. Really sorry about not having written for ages. I will get that all written up at some point. Probably either next weekend or the week after depending on when my last exam is. I really should have kept up with it, but for various reasons I didn't. I apologise.
So, I'm going to ramble on about today. Please please do not feel the need to read this. It is completely for myself because I feel the need to talk and no ones on MSN!
Today I've been relaxing. Yesterday I had an exam, so normally I would be working today but my next exam is the anthropology exam and I cannot for the life of me find any books. I have tried to no avail. This means I only have my lecture notes to go on and hence i'm basically screwed. Its on Wednesday morning, so i'll just have to hope shes nice to me. Its in Italian.
Today has been nice to relax. I've been reading Midnight Sun again. I also found a really funny web comic in French, which is great! Me and Lucie are going for an evening walk around Bologna, which should be nice. We're planning to get ice cream and sit in Piazza Maggoire. I also managed to do a load of shopping for this week today, inclding mince which means I can make tagliatelli al ragu again. Its been so hot for the past week that it means you can hardly do anything. Lucie seems to be keeping a temperature gage in her MSN name (lol) and shes been saying its been up to 37 degrees! I'm finding it difficult to deal with, even in shorts and a vest i'm sweating like a pig and getting dehydration headaches despite drinking water all the time. Everyone back home is graduating or about to, which makes me sad. I miss everyone so much, and I have so much work to do over the summer as well as my op.
I realise this is delving into the relms of a diary entry. I should stop.
Plans at the moment are just to revise, get these exams done, get them authorised, get packed and leave. When I get home theres a whole different to do list to start. I shall have to create a board with all different sections when I get home! haha
seeing friends- leicester and london and birmingham
money-overdraft, loan
excavation report from last summer
dissertation reading including meeting with my tutor
house for next year
those are the main things. they can wait for now though.
Maybe I worry to much.
This post was basically just me needing to rant. Please ignore

Holiday in Rome, Naples and Bologna
Monday: Had lecture in the morning and left Olivia in a cafe with her own reading. After lecture we found each other and went around Bologna. I took her to the town hall, and we found some random exhibitions on Korean stuff. We both can't remember what else we did. Sorry.
Tuesday: Again lecture in the morning. Different place to normal. It mentioned Gramsci which pleased Olivia alot when I told her afterwards. After that we basically just packed up and left, not leaving alot of time. Tickets were brought just in time and we got the train to Arezzo. Arezzo went to Perugia where we got off. We thought we were at a certain train station and had time to see things (an hour) but it turned out to be off the map and near nothing special. I brought phone credit but it had an error and I still have a dead phone. We sat about and walked back to the train station in enough time but we had still (randomly) managed to miss the train. Cue a chat with a nice man at the info desk and a few route that would mean us getting into Rome later than expected. During the wait I attempted to talk to call centre people in Italian, but it didn't work, very stressful. Train from Foligno to Rome got in easily. We then had a metro ride and found ourselves starving (not had lunch), so we shared a really really tasty kebab from a random joint.
We then got the bus to the campsite, which was easier to find than anticipated, and checked in with no hassle (despite them asking for warmings on the website if you got in after 8pm). Our tent was awesome, but we were tired so we got straight down to sleep. Luckily I had my sleeping bag as they only gave sheets and a blanket and I would have been v cold. The wash block was very clean and really modern.
Wednesday: Vatican day! We'd been up late the night before but managed to get to the vatican museum reasonably early. The queues were huge but they went through tolerably quickly. There was so much to see that we started (and ended up spending the whole morning) in the picture gallery. It started off with late medieval stuff which was about half of it, then moved on to later renaissance stuff. There was a room of tapestries, which very much underwhelmed me but overall I enjoyed it and took lots of pictures. At the end of that there was a room full of religous art, which was mostly medieval stuff again, so I loved it. I have tons and tons of photos from this morning. The pictures gave me loads of ideas for vike stuff hehe. Beautiful fabrics. After that we went to the outside balcony bit and ate lunch. Sausage and bread, and apple. It was enough to keep us going. We carried on all afternoon, keeping the main route through the museum. First was an exhibition of early christian masonary. It looked very much Roman, but with christian iconography and christian stories in it. One of them depicited Christ healing the sick. This lead on to the main courtyard, but it wasn't very impressive.
After that there was the roman gallery, filled with statues. It was pretty cool. Me and Olivia found the prefect male arse on a statue, we were pleased with it. Past that through some rooms painted all beautifully and again full of statues until we got to the octagonal court. We rested a while there, I looked in the fountain and there were coins from all over the world. The statues in the court were cool too. The next part had a bunch of mosaics in, and more statues. I think it was still part of the Roman stuff, but can't be sure (the statues, not the mosaics).
Next up was the egyptian exhibit, which was really cool. They had a mummy with sarcophagus, and all sorts of cool tomb stuff and lots of stone with heirogylphics on and pictures of gods. It was revision in a way! Then there was a random room with mesopotamian stuff in it, with written seals, they're pretty famous.
After that we went through the Etruscan exhibit, which was alot better than the one in the Bologna museum. Lots of interesting stuff and much richer objects. After that there was a random statue exhibit that didn't seem to have a theme, but it had an amusingly fat happy Roman lying on his seat eating. This part also had great views of Rome and some random later Etruscan Greekish stuff. We carried on towards the sistine chapel, going past a long room that had massive painted maps on the walls. They were regions of Italy, but we also found two of the whole of Italy and one of just Venice. Random. After that we went to the Raphael(not sure its him) appartments. Incredible ceiling paintings! Some of the rooms also had lovely tiles on the floor. Annoying amount of tour groups taking up alot of space and trying to get through small doors and hence taking up everyone time.
At the end of that, finally, there was a stairway up, with a decorated ceiling obviously, that lead to the sistine chapel. No pictures from there. Its a really tall room thats covered with paintings by differnt people. Swarming with people the whole time. Theres people who tell you to shut up but its never really quiet. They are good about people not sitting down and telling people not to photograph though. It takes a while to look carefully at every painting, Olivia and me decided that it would have been better to have binoculars. Overall, it was cool but we both thought it wasn't up to the hype lavished on it. Olivia and me seem to have very simialar tastes, though not exact.
By this time it was 7 and chucking out time so we walked over to St Peters square. Here we sat down for a bit of a rest before checking out the actual church. We decided it was hideously OTT, in particular a pink granite sculpture that was meant to be some kind of blanket. Urgh. Loos were used at this point, and then we scarpered off to find a meal. We had horrific tourist food, but it was cheap which is what matters. I still contend that Italians would have been horrified by it. I had spag bol, the bol was very wet and the meat poor quality; not to mention it being with spaggetti! Ultimate no no. After that we went home to bed.
Thursday: Roman day. Started off with the colluseum and spent the morning there. As well as the two levels they also had a decent exhibition. Life time wish completed. Its a great place. The underfloor area was maze-like and in the exhibition they showed an elaborate system of ropes and pulleys. It took so many people to organise. We saw all sorts of things they'd found, like game dice from where people played on the seats, and bones from food they'd eaten. It was great.
Lunch time we walked to the paletine and sat at the enterance to eat lunch. More sasuage and bread. Very dull. We started walking around, its a big place. Very well preserved. We saw some people clearing grass and wondered if they were going to start a dig but we concluded not. We went past some houses, and a museum with statues in.
The whole place was set within gardens, and there was a beautiful court surrounded by orange trees. I took a picture. At this point it started raining (the weather was really being random) but it was still fairly warm so we sat and chatted until it stopped. We took the walk down to the forum. It was huge!
Many different buildings in many differnt periods were there. Most of the ruins were roman, but there were other things that were better preserved. A big tall building was a copy of the senate house. It still had the original floor inside it (beauiful) and some amazing statues. We wandered around and then had more lunch stuff as dinner. After that it was time to go home after we'd taken a good look at the tomb of the unknown soilder and the "wedding cake" builing of which I still don't know the name. Lastly we took a last walk in the dark around the collusem all lit up.
Friday: Morning we started at the Spainish steps, walking up to see the views and going around the church at the top. Walking back down we went past all the designer shops in Rome. Found some amazing things, but also a lot of not very nice stuff. Alot of the leather bags were cool though. Very colourful in general, and some nice dresses. We stopped at some churches and I believe this is the point where we stopped in this French church and looked at the Caravaggio that Olivia got obsessed with. Onwards, past some really pretty streets until we got to the pathenon. Here we stopped to eat at the fountain and hence became two of many many tourists. We went in after eating, but it was quite full and although the dome was very impressive the rest of it wasn't particularly. Another church, very pretty in blue. After that we stopped at this art gallery which the guidebook recommended. Basically it belongs to a family that married into the papal family, and they were all massive art collectors. Their public rooms are hung to an authentic 18th centry plan and the audioguide is narrated by the family themselves. Even being not a massive art fan it was impressive. There was an early Caravaggio in there called rest on the flight to Egypt and it was amazing. Different to the picture in the church before that I hadn't been amaazed by. The angel in it was truely stunning. There was also a Titian there that I really liked. They had a statue of the pope Innocent the 10th there, which was meant to be the star of the gallery, but I didn't like it much other than the eyes, which were very well done. Worth going to see. After that we didn't have alot of time, but went to the Capolitine Museum in the last hour or so before it closed. Rather rushed, but still good. Many interesting statues, including the dying gaul and some interesting Roman/ other language exhibit.
We decided to go back past the colluseum but noticed that there were massive road blocks. Being curious we carried on and found tons of people. We decided to join in. I thought it would be the pope, but Olivia said that he would be at the vatican not here. Turns out she was wrong, so we decided to stay. The pope came out about 45 mins later and there was Good Friday service. Saw lots of nuns from all over the world but not that many monks. Some people had service booklets and one woman let me read it. It was done in Italian but with the lesson titles read in all different langages and the latin parts sung by the pope. We stayed for about half of it until we both got sore feet and decided to leave. The metro station next to the colluseum was shut so we walked down to the next one, it wasn't far. Got home, after a minor complication with buses.
Saturday: We had decided to have a relaxed day so we got up relatively late. We decided to take a walk up the tiber as they days entertainment and then get to Naples before dark. We only got out to central Rome at about 11 and had a quick look at the circus massimus on our way. Its huge! Mostly used for picnicers now but there was an area fenced off for digs at one end. We didn't stay too long as it was really hot in the sun. We arrived at the Tiber and got out lunch. Truely delicious bread and pesto and chocolate with a lovely tree lined pavement and a pretty river. Great times. We chose our route up, zig zaging across over the bridges to see things.
First bridge took us onto the smallest inhabited Island in the world- Isola Tibeia. Great place. The bridge onto it had been used in an Italian film I know so I was happy, and the other bridge was a Roman bridge that was the oldest in Rome. Pretty cool.
Next place we stopped at was a really pretty area with two churches we wanted to see. Both were shut, but we walked past pretty small streets with beautiful houses on (lots of pics). Stopped for a bit more food at the first church then carried on. Next church was on the other side of the big road that was alot more touristy. We carried on towards the church which was shut but still had brilliant mosaics on the outside. Ice cream was also had at this point, something with both really really needed. More walking as it was getting lateish to arrive in Naples in good time but we were having so much fun. We went past Castel St Angelo, which was imposing but cool. Quick metro run to termini and we were on the train to Naples, which didn't take that long (left luggage was very useful on this day).
Needless to say when we arrived in Naples it was dark. The piazza looked dodgy so we didn't spent much time, just found a hotel in the guidebook and started walking. We had gone about 2 mins, not even halfway along the piazza when we came up to this small part that had scaffolding on the road side and a street going off on the building side. At this point a guy was tugging at Olivias big bag and asking for money. I didn't think anything of it, its pretty normal here, so I sped up a bit as I don't like being begged at, but then I realised Olivia wasn't there and I stopped and turned round. She had stopped and she said "shit Phoebe, hes got a knife. I had no idea what to do. He was asking for her money and I told him that she didn't understand but he ignored me and went to her handbag which had her money and everything. I told her what he was asking for but I was really panicing. He found her money, took it and her camera. I was paralysed as I didn't know whether to stay and help her or to run away and get help from the bar that was about 10 metres away. At that point I he had come over to me and pulled at my bag but I was alot nearer the bar so I walked he let go and I ran to the bar calling at them to call the police. Olivia caught up with me (the man had left) and I told the bunch of people at the bar what had happened in very very broken and paniced Italian, messing up my words alot. They were just like "go to the police". Both of us didn't think that they would help, plus it was easter and the station would be very shut. Nothing Italian is open at easter, even police. We ran to the nearest hotel and I explained in very broken Italian. The receptionist also didn't care and told us to go to the police. He had no rooms but told us to try the hotel over the other side of the piazza. We had no choice so we ran over the piazza over roads and past cars to the other hotels. The first one we found was just as unhelpful but they did have a room. I had to pay unfront out of the very little money I had, which is not the way in Italy, they always ask for payment after. We got to the room and then started practical plans. We used alot of international phone calls and stayed up very late. We didn't get to bed until 1. Most of the time Olivia was on the phone and I was curled up on the bed petrified. Olivia was shaken up but was all smiley and fine on the phone (mostly). I just wanted a hug. When we went to bed there was loud car horns all night, which when your nerves are on edge always wake you up, and in general I was just petrified and the dark made it so much worse. We had discussed it and we realised that we couldn't have done anything to prevent it and basically we had done the best we could. I slept badly.
Sunday: Woke up still pretty scared, pretty tired and still just wanting to get back to Bologna. Wasn't going to happen though. We went out in the morning to go to a western union place as her dad had sent a load of money but that made me worry that we had to look after it so I was really twitchy the whole time. Also we went past a market with dodgy looking stalls and people selling stolen phones which just freaked me out more. We got back fine and then sorted out our bags for the day. We took out pretty much anything important and I felt alot better about it. When we went out again i'd pretty much got over the worrying and felt alot calmer. It really did feel like a different place in the day. We went around the streets in the historic quarter and saw tourists with £300+ SLR cameras around their necks and laughed. I had even left my camera in the hotel so I have no pictures of that day. We went past streets and streets full of people. The guidebook described it as "Dickensian" which I think is a brilliant way of putting it, but obviously its very Italian. Doors were open in the street into people's kitchens and we saw a room full of Middle aged men which I decided was a mafia meeting. It had awesome grafitti of the type that you only really get in poor areas where talented people have quashed ambition. All the streets had shrines on them, some in better taste than others, and there were interesting courtyards and alleyways everywhere.
After that we headed down towards a later part of the town that the guidebook said had impressed gentlemen on the Grand Tour in the 19th century. It was grand and interesting enough but it didn't stop the smell of piss that was everywhere in the city. We stopped by the main docks, and I was reminded of the Gomorrah book. We started back pretty early as we were both hungry and we wanted to be back in the hotel before it got dark. We stopped and got 3 pizzas just outside our piazza. One was for lunch the next day, the next two were for that night. While we were there I saw a poster for mayor (it seems its election time, there were many of this type for other people). It said "Gommorah? No thanks! Roberto Saviano for mayor" Saviano is the authour of the book I mentioned before. I was so pleased to see that poster :D We went back to the hotel and ate pizza greedily. We were both full and exhausted so spent the evening reading and lolling about on the bed. My pizza was veggie and Olivia's had been margerita. That night I still didn't sleep well, the dark brought back the scariness and there were still the bloody honks right outside the window.
Monday: Awesome day. Morning we got up and got the circular train thing to Herculaneum. They were having an Easter street parade so I got a picture of that. Herculaneum itself was amazing, truely amazing. So very very like walking in a real Roman town. Only pictures can really do it justice. Its also alot smaller, and hence alot more manageable than Pompeii. We saw everything. It was like viewing a house after the previous occupants had taken everything out. We ate our pizza for lunch before moving on and getting the train to Pompeii. Pompeii was good, just alot lot bigger! It was hard to take it all in, and indeed you can't really. We managed to catch the main sites, including the brothel which was v funny. A random guy took us round and he was in love with Olivia, it was a bit weird. We managed to get rid of him and spent the day going around. It lacked the intimacy of Herculaneum, but had alot more different buildings. We stayed until closing time, but not before we found an amazing view of the bay. I got a picture of it.
We went back to the hotel in the dark, but it was OK. On the way back with our bags we took a porter with us and we felt alot safer. Olivia managed to tip him very very smoothly. I hardly even noticed that she'd done it. We got a train but it was delayed so we waited and I got food. It was delayed again and the time was getting late (we had planned the train to go overnight and arrive in Bologna in the morning). We realised our plans would have to change. It got delyed again, and it got to midnight both of us having been on a cold platform for about 2 hours. Eventually a train came and we got on it, knowing we would have to change. We arrived at Salerno eventually but discovered that all the trains there were 2 and a half hours late as well. We were so pissed off and tried to sleep in the warmer waiting room but I couldn't. Olivia did but I read twilight. At half 2 in the morning a train arrived and we took it. We were just in seats and the headrest was too high for me to be comfortable leaning on it. I lent on the glass and got some sleep but woke up an hour or so later with a cricked neck. Basically I slept badly. Oliva looked uncomfortable but was apparantly OK. We went past Florence. Not much more sleep. We finally arrived at Bologna at about half past 10 in the morning feeling sweaty and disgusting in the clothes we'd had on for ages and went back to my flat. So concludes this entry! wow! Next one
So concludes this entry! wow! Next one

Sunday
We woke up late. Spent the morning organising somewhere to stay in Rome, and we booked a campsite. It has various differing parts of accomodation, but we're staying in a ridgid permenant tent. It sounds like just what we need, and its pretty cheap. Apparantly its also lockable. We're staying there until Friday night. That afternoon, after a lunch of chicken and pasta, we went for a long walk.
We started by going to piazza maggoire, then went to San Stefano, then down Via Zamboni. We stopped to chat in the sun at piazza Verdi, but this drunk guy came up and tried to kiss Olivia and we had to move. We finished the walk down to the end, and sat in the sun and talked for ages about loads of things.
After a while we went home. It was my turn to clean the kitchen so we did, mutual effort, and then got together to go out again. We went to Translyvania. Olivia thought it was really cool, and this time they had pizza slices. We had a drink, ate our fill and discussed the world at large. It was really good fun. Home and bed, as we were a bit tired.
Tomorrow i'm going to Rome, so there will be no updates until I get back! Speak then xx

Saturday 28th-Saturday 4th (under construction)
Hello! Sorry for the lack of blogging. Have been alternately very busy and completely dead of tiredness. I shall take this week day by day. It starts interestingly, and finishes interestingly with a blank in the middle due to exteme tiredness.
Saturday 28th: Basically was a quiet day. I think this might have been when I went to Lucie's and we watched the film Cube. Its a horror film about people stuck in this massive maze of cubes. It was pretty cool.
Sunday 29th: Woke up at about 11. It was raining so I didn't think that Italians would be too bothered about getting their early so I set off to get the bus about 4. Bad idea. I searched for about an hour in the rain before I finally found the stop. By this time my feet and jeans were totally soaked through and mostly stayed this way until the rest of the day. It was properly misrible weather. Eventually I got the bus and felt alot better about finally being on my way, but I was still worried about where to get off as this place is fairly far out past the motorway. In the event it was all ok and, when getting off the bus, I struck up a conversation with 3 Italians. Two girls and a guy.
Both the girls study English with another language, and one of them had spent her erasmus in Reading so they could help me when I didn't talk Italian. I found it was mostly ok though and we had a great time chatting. We arrived at the venue and I had been right about there not being a massive queue. It was about 6pm and there was very few people in a massive huddle (no queue, obviously, them being Italian). We chatted, they had a beer, I shared some vodka lemonade and crisps. The mass of tents that everyone had made something that looked very like a roof. The rain didn't stop.
Eventually we got into the venue. Its a really cool place and we carried on chatting. I was second row from the front, and the whole concert was brilliant! I'll probaly do a review of it in my other blog if people want to know exactly how good, but i'll not bore everyone here. After that we had a very very long wait for the cloakroom, with some drunken idiots generally annoying everyone. I went to the loo at this point and there was anothe drunken guy singing the italian lyrics to the last song Franz had played! the English lyrics are "this fire is out of control, gunna burn this city burn this city" and he was singing "questo fuoco e' fiuori controlo, sta brunciano la citta' sta bruciano la citta'" which is the same words. It was great and there was a breif sing along. The toilets were amazing, the best i've ever seen in a club/gig venue ever! After this we walked to the bus stop and went home. Great night!
Monday 30th: Woke up at 7.30 but was so tired. I thought I had time to sleep a bit more but when I woke up next it was 10.20 and I had promised to meet Lucie at 11.30! I was massively stressed and had no time for a shower so I pulled on the clothes from the night before (with different shoes, as those ones were still soaking) and rushed everything together before 11 when I had to leave. I was ready early so I went to the shop and got a load of food for the evening. I got to the MacDonalds outside the trainstation 10 mintues early!! I was exhausted though. Lucie arrived and we got a big meal. The train journey passed without incident. When we arrived in Mantova it was sunny! Finding a bus took us some time but once we did it everything went pretty smoothly. We arrived at the venue to the sound of the soundcheck.
Our hotel was really near, and we were suprised when we arrived. It was 4 star! properly luxury rooms! It was an experience to say the the least. We organised ourselves, dumped our overnight stuff and headed for the queue. There was a massive variety in dress, and to a certain extent in age. One girl there looked about 11, and there were some big burly guys who looked in their 20s. Either way, everyone seemed happy, and one guy was doing his German homework! We didn't feel that hungry after the huge McD lunch. When the gates were opened there was massive shoving. The guards had to close the gate again and tell everyone to calm down.
Once inside we were in the 5th row behind two massive guys, 6ft plus, and none of us could see anything. They were keeping "space" at the front that could have been taken up by people being nearer. I kept trying to get through them but realised that him and his gf weren't going to be split up so I tried to get through him and the other tall guy. This guy got pissed off. At one point there was a surge in the crowd and I got through! This caused the guy to shove me, pretty hard, into the other people and it did hurt. His gf then did the same thing, but with less effect. Lucie and a crowd of girls behind me were shocked, she tried to talk to him but he screamed at her. This was all during the support bands. I felt bad for Lucie that this was her gig and she couldn't see. Later on this girl next to me (who was with the people who shoved me) told me to get back to my place, I was I was ok here and she was shocked. I told here in gigs there are no "places". She was annoyed at me but I didn't move. Later I got shoved back by this girl in between the two tall guys. This helped everyone behind me to finally see so I stayed there the whole way through the concert. After the concert me and Lucie looked at each others photos and waited outside the other gate to see if the band would come out. Eventually the keyboard player (who is Lucies favouite) came out with the singer from one of the support bands. We waited for the others but they didn't come. We then went back to the hotel, found our balcony which we loved, and went to bed.
Tuesday 31st: We woke up at half past 10 (as we had agreed to, due to needing to have enough time to have showers and leave. I had a shower and washed my hair with the hotel shampoo. It was amazing and I felt so clean! We had some snacks from the cupboard and packed up. Bus into Mantova was simple to get to. We arrived in the piazza and went to an inn to get food. I had risotto alla Mantovanese (risotto rice with sausage cubes) and Lucie had lasagna. It was great. We then spent the rest of the time wandering around on our way back to the train station, stopping at a random chapel on the way. It was pretty, but raining. Monday seemed to be as dead as Sunday in Mantova. Train home I mostly read, we were too tired to talk much. We got back to Bologna and I went home and basically died for the rest of the day!
Wednesday 1st: April fools. I only got fooled properly once! I spent most of the day pretty tired, although I did make it to my lecture.
Thursday 2nd: Lectures again. Less tired
Friday 3rd: Lectures in the daytime. I had text my friends from the Franz gig and they had said I should come out with them in the night. She text me and told me they were going out at 1am. I found the place fairly easily and went in, but didn't find anyone. Got myself a drink, but I couldn't see them. Waited around for a while. When I finally went out to the front door at about 2 they finally arrived! We got drinks and danced. The Dj was amazingly good. He mixed brilliant songs like the gossip and smells like teen sprit. There were the usual weirdo guys, but mostly it was really cool! We danced until 4am! I saw Hannah's friend Lackie, and we had the drunken conversations i'm getting used to having with him now. At 4 we all left, me and Micheala walked home singing songs and chatting. It was fun and then I crawled into bed.
Saturday 4th: Nothing to report all day but Olivia arrived! We chatted about many things, looked at photos and caught up on news. Then we got my room sorted for a visitor and went to bed. Great day!

Wed, Thurs, Friday
Hey. Should update more. Thought I only had two days to add
Wednesday: Lie in. Don't remember what I did that day but I did have a lecture. I didn't go out because of early lecture the next day
Thursday: Was pretty dull. Woke up early for lecture 1, heard about the Egypt dig that I really really want to do, but can't. Went home for a bit. Had second lecture. It started early (not sure why) and finished early too, at 4.30. Went home. Thursday night was spent at Millenium. It was really good! Until 3. We've realised that at 3 it changes. It turned into italian music and all the italians did weird dancing! haha Me and Lucie thought it was really weird. Also they didn't play the requests we put in earlier, but they did play Muse. I was happy about that. Got home v late as normal. Bed at about 4ish
Friday: Woke up late. Didn't have a lecture. I went out in the afternoon and looked for the watchmen comic in the international bookshop. They didn't have it, but I found one copy in the italian book. Its huge!! A4 size and v thick. After that I went to the music shop. I brought a french film that Lucie recommended to me. Its about a bunch of people on Erasmus in Barcelona! he he. We'll see if its anything like the real erasmus experience. I went home, ate, then I went to Lucies. We watched a horror film called Cube. It was interesting, and original. It didn't really have an ending as such, and alot of the film was unexplained. Still good though. Went home and read a bit before going to bed.

Tuesday
Yesterday was very dull and frustrating. I turned up to my 9am lecture but no one was there. I realised that I'd forgotten that he'd said the day before that there would be no lecture that morning. Felt stupid.
Spent the rest of the day down in the library in the boiling heat trying to read. It took me hours to get through this one chapter and then I found all the info in diagrams in end of the chapter. The chapter was still useful though as it explained it all. When I finished it I read it all again and it made proper sense finally. I still have the rest of the book to get through though. He never turns up to lectures so I spose i'm pretty much teaching myself. Its a thick book though, which scares me.
In the evening I didn't do anything, just chatted to people online. I had a good chat with David Slavens (my cousin) randomly. He was doing a biology project and wanted to know peoples colour eyes.
Update tomorrow :D

Ieri (yesterday) Monday
Hello!
Normal lecture in the morning. Had lunch at the canteen. Again no second lecture, what the hell is he playing at!!!, and so I went home at about 3. At half 5 I got myself some food and at 6 lef the flat to meet Lucie. We met and went to the cinema to see Watchmen. When we arrived we saw Christina's friends Jennifer and her boyfriend. We sat down and chatted until the film came on.
It was so good! I'll do a review on my other blog. Gory as hell and very messed up. The characters were good, and one of them reminded me of the Joker in Batman. The ending was a little confusing though.
We ended up talking to these italians in the loo on the way out. I also saw Martin the phd student from Leicester, hes going back in 2 weeks! its all going so fast!
Me and Lucie went home, and I went online for a while and then went to bed. Good day

Sunday
Just a quick blog.
Sunday was spent idly mostly. I spent most of the day trying to get through to mum, but she was out alot. I had woken up late and was tired the whole day. I tried to do some writing but I couldn't concentrate properly on it. More time spent on skype. I managed during the course of the day to talk to: izzy, dad, Jules and Jenny but only got to talk to mum at the end! it was still good though.
In the evening went for aperativo with Lucie and Charlotte. It was Charlottes last night. It was really fun, we chatted alot, had good food and took photos. Fun was had by all. At about 10 we left and went home. I went online for an hour or so then to bed

In the evening went for aperativo with Lucie and Charlotte. It was Charlottes last night. It was really fun, we chatted alot, had good food and took photos. Fun was had by all. At about 10 we left and went home. I went online for an hour or so then to bed

Friday and Saturday
Right.
Friday was dull enough not to need talking about. Lecture was on Mead, reminds me to wiki her
Saturday morning I got up too early. Spent some time on skype wishing my mum Happy Birthday. The connection was alot better than it is in the evenings, no idea why. In the afternoon I went to the museum. I went round two exhibits. One was the prehistory exhibt, and it was really interesting. I also spent time before entering the musem in the beautiful courtyard that's outside it. The prehistory exhibit had a class of schoolkids there, but I went round in my own time and it was good. Well spaced out, well explained and very modern. There was one small room at the side literally filled from floor to ceiling with various flints from all over the world and all over Italy. It was a bit much to take in.
Then I went to the Etruscan exhibit. That was interesting because I had been studying it last term. Everything was bigger than I imagined. They had a princesses tomb there, which was amazing, complete with throne, stools and pots with food in. There was row upon row of glass cases with cremations in. The grave goods were intersting but there was so many! They had mock ups of how the urns would have been buried, which was helpful. This room led onto a massive long room mostly filled with cases and I started to get bored. Museums need to modernise and this felt like it came from the 1930s.
I got hungry so I went home. Rest of the day was filled idly with nothing much. In the evening I went out with Lucie and Charlotte. It was pretty fun most of the time. I left early as they wanted to stay until half past 3!! We went inside this weird cage they have there. I went home at about 2.30.
update again soon xx

Thursday
Right. Yesterday was pretty dull but as I said i'd blog as much as I can I better do it.
Had 9am egyptian lecture. It was on Ramesess temple.
Between lectures I went home and got lunch and read Twilight more!
At half two I set off on my new route to my lecture, the back way. It went well and I got there early. The lecture was another one on Kroeber, this german anthropologist and two women called Britget something and Margaret Mead. This made me think of mead the drink. My concentration was very low by the end of the lecture, theres only so many hours of trying to concentrate on someone talking in a language you don't speak that can be done in a day.
Went home, normal eating and things were done. I was going to go out and see friends, but it was raining when I went out the door so I came back in and went to bed instead, seeing as it was quite late.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Hey. Updates are getting slower, i'll try and rectify that.
Monday: I got early as I had my exam. Got there on time, added myself to the list of examinees, at the end. Sat there alternately stressing out and doing revision. I was there the whole morning and I got so hungry. Unfortunately it was the one day I forgot to take my wallet with me. Sods law. So I was there, starving, and couldn't leave as I had no idea when they were changing people around. Eventually at about 1 I had my exam. It went really badly. I knew alot more than I did in the last exam, but she was alot less sympathetic. She found me a book in English on the subject and begged me to read it, which was a bit embarassing. At the end I thought she was going to fail me, but she wrote 28. I was a bit shocked, but happy. The rest of the day I relaxed.
Tuesday: Had my normal 9-11 lecture, ate lunch in the uni canteen and read some twilight in Italian. I also did a bit of uni work when I realised that lecture wasn't happening. This always happens and they never tell you. Oh well. In the evening it was St Patricks day so I went out. Lucie has her friend Charlotte over so I went to meet up with them. Shes so lovely. We wanted to go to the Irish pub, but there was so many people on the pavement outside. We checked the English pub, but immediately came out again as it was too loud to talk. We decided to go to Bar lime in the end, which was useful as I got to use up all my saved 2 for 1 tickets. We had drinks and chatted and it was really fun. Mostly I spoke french and they spoke a mix of French and English. We all got along really well. At about 11 Lydia et al arrived, which was fun, and shortly after Lucie and Charlotte left. Chatter and drinks were carried on, and a whole bunch of English people showed up. Talk went on and I had a good chat with Hannah.
Wednesday: Strike day (surprise :p) so no lectures. I spent the day getting various things done, reading my Italian Twilight and being online. In the evening I had an arguement with my housemate about cleaning, which made me a emotionally exhauted. I went to bed early.

Last week
I apologise profusely for not having updated all week. My week was alternately very dull and very stressful and hence I was too busy to blog.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were normal days. I was upset on Tuesday and Wednesday, as I should have been in London seeing a gig, but it was ok in the end.
Thursday and Friday
Saturday and Sunday were stressful. They consisted of stressing over exam revision and procrastination.
This will be UPDATED soon

Sunday
Sunday was cool. I got up late and it was all sunny. I was in such a good mood. I just pottered around the house the whole day and got things done, like the cleaning and stuff.
I also got washing done, but it didn't spin so that caused some hassle, but its all sorted out now.
Lovely relaxing day

Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Hey. Sorry for the delay in blogs but theres really not much to write about. Lectures, food shopping, cleaning flat etc. Nothing interesting. Thursday night I hid from a night out as i'd been so tired the whole week. Friday noone went out anyway.
Yesterday was fairly dull but the weather has suddenly turned good. It was sunny and fairly mild temperature wise. I did a big shop for the next week and brought veg to munch on. I'm planning to make ragu tonight (aka Bolognese). Last night me and Lucie went out but the music was horrific and we had a boring time. The only silver lining was that one of my cocktails tasted really nice and fruity. Dissapointing night though, hopefully next week will make up for it.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Hey again.
Not much has been going on this week so far. I've been very tired every day for some reason. Having early starts isn't good. I arrived back safely Monday morning and went home. All three days have been filled with normal lectures however I have had some good evenings.
Tuesday night I went for a drink with les anglais :D Hannah and Lydia turned up with a card, a prezzie and a cake! I was amazed. The present was a really nice blue scarf. We got a drink and chatted about lots of things and then Tina turned up too and we all had cake. They had brought a knife and candels and a lighter, so organised! It was lovely to see them and we all had a great chat. It was a bit awkward when I tried to explain why I went home, but other than that it was all good.
Last night (Wednesday) I went to meet my language partner. He's called Valerio, he's originally from Calabria and he works for the uni at the moment before starting masters soon. He's ok, but hes a few years older than me and is more serious. We didn't really hit it off but the conversation was plesant enough. My Italian was surprisingly better than I had expected and he talked English to me too.
Finally, the other day I finished chapter 14 of my Midnight Sun. Editing has been done once but needs re doing over again. Watch this space!

Long time no blog
Hi again! I'm really sorry about the massive gap! Basically Victor and Tatiana my Brazillian flatmates left here and disconnected the internet. I didn't have internet for a while and it distressed me greatly ha ha. Now its all back on and I have some catching up to do.
This weekend I was home! Sunday morning I woke up very tired, waited around Potters, went to see Molly and then came home. The afternoon and evening was spent en famille. It was v nice.
Saturday was my birthday! The morning I got up lesiurely and opened prezzies and stuff and got ready to go out. I took the train to Leicester and phoned people but everyone was busy so I got a pastie and went to the dry dock. Molly arrived soon later and we got chatting and phoned people. Everyone said they would come later. Potter arrived and said hi between shifts and that he would be back. Later on Matt arrived. We spent a long time drinking, chatting and discussing the Louis Theroux look alike on the other table. It was v funny.
At about half 6 everyone started arriving! Pretty much all of the vike came! I was so happy. What followed after was alot of crudeness, silly photos, many jokes and lots of fun. Miranda gave me her comic and it was amazing! Molly got very very drunk and was all over Pony. Sam and Sam from my course arrived, it was so so great to see them! I told them all about Italy and they gave me updates. More sillyness with vike and I phoned home to tell mum i'd be staying at Potter's. I spoke to Sam again and they had the Italian girl who was taking my place with them! I was amazed and we chatted about everything there. Then she got in a small rant about english food haha. Then everyone started to leave until it was just Pete and a few others. We walked Molly to nixon as she was so drunk, and we made lots of innuendo about Pony and he went with her. We left Liz and me Pete and Potter walked on, then we all went to his for a drink. A while after me and Potter walked back to his and we went to bed.
Friday I woke up really tired from the night before. I did almost nothing all day, I went online and packed up for the evening. I had packed and left but walking to the bus stop took me longer than I had realised but the bus was timetabled then. It was very late and I stressed. I got to the airport at the same time as the gates closed but by some miracle it was still boarding when I got through and it was all OK. I arrived back in England and mum and Izzy came to get me. It was so nice of them, then I went right to bed when we got back.
Thursday was pretty dull apart from the night out we had. We decided to check out Millenium. Its a club that requires a card as you have to join the society. We went in and there was a band playing (I was worried there would be bands all night, we hadn't come for a gig) they were playing arctic monkeys songs but the lyrics were weird cuz it was Italians singing. We got a drink and went to listen. The second band were amazing. One guy on violin playing the melody, no singing, along with bass and drums. All three guys were obviously massively competent musicians. It was amazing to watch. At about 1.30 that stopped and the DJ began. He played awesome music and there was much dancing. It got really packed and at about 2 Lydia, Christina and Eloisa arrived to join us. The music was amazing, I requested Muse and most of the music was British Indie and it was great! I had such an awesome time and we stayed really late. The music went weird about 3am, and we left at half past. I hadn't enjoyed being out so much in a long long time. We also saw Lackie there, he was drunk again and being overly touchy, its really weird but at least it was only to Lydia and not me. Still, a fun time was hopefully had by all and now I just have to pursuade Lucie to come as much as she can! She owes me for all the nights out we've been on.
Right, thats enough for now, i'll update another time and I have an early lecture

Monday
Hello again.
Yesterday I had a 9am lecture. I was more tired than I should have been considering I didn't go to bed that late. I perked up a bit after it, and read Atonement. At half 12 I went to bar lime cafe and got myself a panino with a coke, while carrying on with Atonement.
My next lecture was 3 whole hours long. It started promisingly. There was only 4 people in the class, so the lecturer noticed the addition of me. He spoke English and was welcoming. Then he started the lecture. I could not understand a word! He has a low voice and a suicidal (for my understanding) tendancy to slur words. I hardly understood anything beyond the fact that he was talking about people doing digs in Iraq in the 20s and 30s. I'll talk to him and sort it out another time.
After that I went home and vegged, watched OC! Nothing else has been going on

Friday, Saturday and Sunday
So these three days have been lumped together for boringness.
Friday: Had lecture, was normal. Went home
Saturday: went shopping and brought food as shops are shut on Sunday
Sunday: watched a bunch of OC and read a load of Atonement (which was also done the other two days)
On Sunday evening I met up with Nicola (Aussie) as shes leaving tomorrow (Tuesday). I went to the pub we were meeting at, but I got there early. Early enough to be sleazed at by some ugly weirdo guy. I actually had to go inside to get away from him. He'd left after a while and then she arrived with 3 other people, her Welsh friend and an Austrailian couple. We got drinks, food and sat down. There was much merriment as the Aussie couple didn't know that the Welsh language exsisted. Me and him spoke alot, he reminded me of home. At that point Lucie arrived, I talked to her alot, anixous that she shouldn't get left out of the conversation by not speaking English. I don't know why she worries as she speaks it well, but I think Aussie accents are hard for her. I spoke French to her anyway. We messed about with photos, and chat and everything basically. After that we all went and got an ice cream. House (dubbed in Italian of course) was on the TV. Me and Lucie then left and went to bed

Thursday
I woke up early feeling really tired. Wed night was not the best of ideas, it would have been worse if I had stayed though. I got up and trundled off to my lecture. I was so sleepy, but I tried to concentrate. I think I got enough of it down not to worry too much. After that I went home, got food ect. It was luckily hardly raining.
Second lecture passed slightly more awake than before. I felt I missed lots of stuff from the powerpoint, but she did say to listen to her as all the words on the powerpoint were in the books. Both lectures were still interesting.
During the lecture I got a text from Lydia inviting me for pizza. It would be 5 after the lecture, but she couldn't do then. I arranged to go at 7.45. They eat late.
I went home, but I wasn't in a great mood as I was tired. I watched a little OC.
When the time to leave arrived I was really hungry and not thinking properly. I went outside and saw that it had started chucking it down. This was the last straw on my hungry and tired nerves and I phoned up Lydia to cancel. I immediately made myself an aparagus burger, and them some pasta. I felt so much better, then I wound down for the day, read some atonement and went to sleep.

Wednesday!
Right. Hello there.
Yesterday was started late as I only had afternoon lessons and had early starts the two days before. I slept in and generally mooched about the flat doing nothing much.
At half past 1 I shut down my computer and started organising myself, checked the time of the lecture and realised that I had an extra hour. I used this hour productively to read atonement, hehe.
Lecture time came, I went. Its the same room as a intro lecture we had at the start of the year. It was pretty cool, I was writing frantically as there was loads of stuff on the powerpoint, and listening as well. When I stopped writing and listened I mostly knew what it was about. It was a pretty basic outline of anthropology. It really pushed my brain and it was good. I came out exhausted but really happy about how well it had gone and how well I understood it all. I asked for the powerpoints but she said she couldn't give them out, but that it was all in the books for the course.
I went home, ate etc.
Later on at half 9 I went to meet Lucie. We were going out to a bar to meet the German girl Steffi. After which Lucie was going to Hobby One and I was going to get sleep before my early lecture today. We met up outside a bar, it looked empty but the first room was weird, and the bar was behind. Steffi was with some other girls. We all got a spritz, which is normal aperativo drink in Italy. It tasted a bit of wine, but it wasn't too bad. We chatted about various things, and looked through a mini whats on in Bologna magazine. I had another drink, and more chat.
At that point we decided to change venues, but the next bar was so full that it was a bit pointless so we went to Hobby One early. I was a bit drunk so I wanted food. In the event there was no food so I stayed and chatted for half an hour or so before I left. I got back at midnight, which was a bit late really

Tuesday. Another early start. In the morning it wasn't raining, but it looked cloudy. Normal trip to uni. Lecture was ok. In the break I manically scribbled down what another girl had written. That will help for later. After the lecture I forced myself to go to the arts faculty and find the last module. I went through everything and it all was either irrelevant or clashing with the modules that I've already chosen.
I sat down for a while in a frustrated state and then looked again. During this time a guy came up to me and offered me a leaflet. I took it to read it. It was the South African lottery so I put it in the bin. He asked me to get it, and I was so surprised because I assumed it was unimportant. I told him it was there, at the top of the bin. It was his, and I wasn't going to get it. He then picked it up, swore at me a few times, and walked off. I was confused by it, and wondered if I was in the wrong or not. I can see why people would think I was in the wrong for not getting it for him, but it was his, and by holding something in my hand I am not obliged to own it. I probably wouldn't have put it in the bin if I had realised it was important. He walked past me another time and swore at me again. I could also add that the leaflet thing was not in any way dirty, it was resting on paper right at the top of the bin. I don't know, I havn't worked out who was in the wrong yet. It annoyed me him swearing at me though, it stopped me apologising afterwards.
I looked again through the modules, still a bit rattled, but I found a module that I thought had clashed but didn't. There are 2 lectures, of 3 hours each, which is a bit of a trial. Starts next week on Monday. I was happy that I had found a module and went home.
I didn't have any more lectures that day so I watched a DVD. It was called ho voglia di te, its the sequel to the other Italian film I like. It was a good film, next time i'll watch it with Italian subtitles rather than English. I did washing, various other things. Went to bed

Monday
Yesterday was an awesome day, other than the early start. I still hate half past 7, particularly when it still feels like half past 6 due to Uk and Italian time being so near. Anyway...
Monday was the start of lectures again so I had a 9am. This meant getting up early and walking half an hour through the rain (no umbrella and not covered walkways). I had a little trouble finding the place, but eventually I got there. Under the "every lesson starts 15 mins after the time given" rule I was early. I spotted a girl who knows Frederica (she was in my classes before Christmas) and another girl me and Lydia met when trying to sort out lectures. I sat with them. The professor seems nice, hes a bald guy. The lecture was mostly just basic chronology and themes, kinda expected of a introductory lecture. When we had finished it was raining even harder, so I stayed in the block for a while, reading the newspaper. Fabio (from before Christmas) saw me and we had a quick chat. I said I was waiting for the rain to stop and he said you'll be waiting a while then, he was right. I went to check when I next have an exam (March, urgh) and left in the rain. At this point I was going to go the arts factulty and find another module to do, but I didn't.
Instead I went to the make up shop and got myself lip liner. Not my normal make up but I found if you don't want red lipstick to bleed its kinda nessercary. I also popped into ricordi, which was a mistake as I came out with a Franz Ferdinand album and a DVD thats the sequel to the Italian film i've mentioned before. I went home, dumped stuff and had lunch.
After lunch I had to go and pay rent, so I got myself together and walked (in the rain again) to my landlady's house. It wasn't too hard to find, and wasn't far either. It was on a slightly less well kept road than Via San Vitale. I went up and she was waiting. We sat in her small sort of sitting room and chatted a bit. I then paid her and then her cat found us. Its a sweet black and white cat that I think is blind in one eye. Apparantly she (he?) always follows Valeria. I left and went home.
Not much happened then, ate food etc.
At 7 (I know, early) I set off to see Defiance at the local cinema. Mondays it has English films, which means its pittifully lacking in choice, but at least theres some! I arrived really early, and waited until 5 mins before the film to see if Lydia and Christina would come. I'd invited them earlier in the day but they didn't reply. In the event I saw an Irish guy i'd see in my department and they didn't turn up.
The film was pretty good. I was in a bit of a lonely mood, so guns and nazis probably wasn't what I would have chosen to see. Despite that it was still pretty good. The actors all at certain points spoke in other languages, which was kinda cool, but the accents were bad when talking English. I'm not gunna get it on DVD, but I did like it.

Sunday
Right. Another day.
Got woken up really early (well, 7ish) by Lydia waking up and going back. I had to get up and lock the door behind her. I was so so tired and found it really hard to get back to sleep afterwards. Eventually I woke up at 12 and decided to get up properly.
Had a shower, got something to eat and went online for a while. The Turkish girls suddenly left without properly saying goodbye. I was sad. Cengis then helped me put the matress back. I got washing done, thought about Monday and organised myself.
In the evening the new Spainish people arrived. They were given the full riot act (ok, so its only a list of rules, but its so pointless) by Valeria, which was OK as I was a bit tired and grumpy and didn't feel like socialising. I went to bed early as I could.
Fun day *rolls eyes* oh well

Hello again :D
Yesterday :D all my troubles seemed so faaaar away.... *ahem*
Woke up late, had a think about the organisation of the day. Text Lydia, we agreed that all was confirmed, she was going to arrive late at about 8. I spent the day not doing much, tidying my room. I thought about shopping, but then remembered that talking to mum would be a good idea. I spent a while on skype. Jenny was there and I said hi, I spoke to mum for a while about various things, and dad. Izzy was out, which I was a bit sad about, but we can chat another time.
After that I rushed off to the supermarket and got food. As soon as I did that I got the potatoes going and shoved them in the oven. They cooked quite fast. Then Lydia rang to say her and Christina were on their way. I cut up pepper. Then I had to go and get them, despite being stressed because the potatoes were cooking quickly and nothing else had been put on yet. I then put the pepper in with the potatoes to get cooking. Lydia started the chicken. All actually went well, and it was a good meal. We chatted about various things, including people and languages. Drinks were had.
Christina had to go at that point as she was staying in a hostel for the night, and I lent her a book to read.
Cengis (yes, like Jengis, but Turkish not Mongolian) and Ihrem got the mattress for me, which was sweet because I was going to to it myself. Me and Lydia then watched St Trinians. She really liked it. She got a few phone calls during it, but it provided useful toilet breaks. After that I got changed, we did make up and chatted about this make up shop in Bologna. Walking to the club didn't take that long.
We arrived at the club and decided to wait for Lucie who wasn't there yet. Steffi (the name of the German girl that was there yesterday) arrived with a brunch of people and we said hi. Her hair was so nice. Then Lucie arrived and we all went in. We got a drink and sat down for a while. I had a quick chat with Steffi, then she went to get a drink and disappeared for the rest of the night. Lucie and Lydia were chatting and I joined in as well as I could over the noise. Then we went off to dance. The music was pretty good. I found myself coveting peoples clothes and espcially peoples shoes. I so wish I could walk in heels.
After a while Marco, Lucie's Italian friend joined us. Hes such a fool, its funny. After a while we all got another drink and had a short chat and took a few photos. Then we went back to dancing and stuff. Towards the end of the night Marco and Lydia were chatting alot and then there were loads of Spainish songs and a few Italian songs that everyone there seemed to know. One was called "sara perché ti amo" or it will be because I love you. I wasn't as tired at the end as I normally am, and it was much later when we left. At half 3, we left as a 4 (Lydia, me, Lucie and Marco) and we walked the streets. Marco tried to get us to let them to back to mine for more drinks, but Lucie had a bus to catch and work to do. I was also concious that everyone would be alseep in the flat and that i'm not allowed parties, due to my obsessive and neurotic landlady. My god she annoys me sometimes. Anyway.. After that we got back and went to sleep pretty quickly.

Friday
Yesterday was a fun day.
It was Lucie's birthday. We had arranged to meet later in the day with some of her friends so I spent the morning sleeping and the early afternoon reading. I'm almost finished with sense and sensibilty, and looking forward to starting Atonement.
At 3.45 I left the flat and went on my way to the bus station. I stopped at ricordi megastores to get Lucie's prezzie. I got her "tre metri sopra il cielo" or three steps over heaven. Its a famous Italian youth romance film that has a bit of a cult here. Its a great film and the lead actor is gorgeous. I also got myself the Twilight soundtrack and the new Franz Ferdinand album, in preparation for the gig in March.
After that I carried on and got to the bus station in good time. I looked for the bus stop but there wasn't the one I was looking for. Lucie phoned me and I didn't realise that I had to get the bus to her. I then got the bus and all was OK. I didn't check the number of stops, but I got it right by chance and also they were at the stop, easy enough for me to see. There was Lucie, Julia (whos Hungarian) and another girl that I had met before whos German. I don't know her name. We then walked to Lucie's flat. It was small but really nice and nicely decorated in white. It seemed more modern than mine and her room was neat and homely.
We chatted for a while (in Italian), ate Lucie's birthday cake (coconut, it wasn't bad) and had a drink (non alcoholic). After that Julia left and it was me, German girl and Lucie. I gave Lucie her prezzie, and she loved it. We then chatted for ages in Italian and I was happy about how well I both followed and contributed, only occasionally falling into English. We talked about our recent exams, about languages, and about actors, films and books. It was great. Then German girl had to leave. Me and Lucie stayed and watched the film. It seemed that she liked it. I left at that point and Lucie went online to talk to her parents. It was all in all a good day and I was happy with my Italian.

Thursday
Right, we're actually back on track with the whole blogging every day thing. Lectures start again on Monday, so hopefully this blog will get a bit more interesting soon! He he.
So yesterday... I got up late. At half 12 I went to the main library to meet Lydia. We met there and then went to look at the courses for next week. We didn't spend that long looking but I did find a few that looked OK. Lydia said to look them up on the internet, but i'm not sure exactly how to do that. Apparantly some of the times and rooms are wrong as well. At this point me and Lydia went back to hers. We made omlette type thing for lunch. It had red pepper, onion and bacon bits in it. It was good. I had extra red pepper slices. Christina came in to talk to us as well. Then Lydia went to do more work and I went on my way home.
On the way back I went to the gym and asked how much it was. They're doing a deal until Saturday where you pay no joining fee (and other random costs) and its for 8am-3pm and its €67 for 4 months worth. I'm thinking about it. Its alot of money..€268 in all. May be worth it if I lose a load of weight though. I don't know.
Not much else has happened.

Wednesday
Righty. Wednesday wasn't one of the most exceptionally amazing of days, better than some though.
I went down to porta San Donato to get my Franz Ferdinand ticket. It cost €10 more than I thought it would, but it wasn't a problem. I was thinking about how I was going to get back in March for a gig in London (Jacks Mannequin, my joint favourite band). The ticket was easy enough to get. After that I went to see my English friends as their flat is very near the ticket shop. We chatted for a bit, I got pizza, more chat, they ate. I went home and slept. Not an amazingly interesting day. I was massively upset that the Jacks Mannequin tickets had sold out. I'm waiting for more dates.

This weekend and Monday and Tuesday
Hey everyone.
So this weekend has been ok. Saturday night I went out. Christina had friends over, so we all got together and went for a meal. We arrived at the osteria dell'orso, and it was raining. We asked, but a table for 7 wasn't going to be available for a while so we went to a nearby bar and all got a drink. It was a really nice very italian socialble place and there was alot of chatting going on. I thought Eloisa was a bit left out, due to the fact that we were mostly talking in English, but she didn't seem too put out. I finished early so me and Eloisa and Christina went to ask about the table again. We were told that we'd have to wait longer, so we went back and the decision was made to go to a different restaurant.
We all went to their landlords restaurant instead. The service was very slow, but the conversation was good, and I chatted to Eloisa a bit in Italian. I was served last, a humgungous pizza with sausage, bacon and potatoe chunks. It was delicious. Other people had muscles, or gnocci. I can't stand sea food! It seems to be the thing here though, along with other more traditional Italian dishes. Normally I finish my food but this pizza was massive and I was so so full. I shouldn't have eaten as much as I did, I was so full the whole night that I could hardly move. It tasted so good though. I had also had bruchetta (we started eating at 9, and didn't get served our main course until about half past 10!) which didn't help. I was expecting to be done and to go and see Lucie at half past 10. That caused alot of confusion, as my phone didn't send the texts I sent to excuse us.
Eventually we finished our meal (with extra dessert stuff free from the landlord) Eloisa and Hannah left us. We then made our way to the club. We arrived, found Lucie, Marco (Italian) and Julia (Hungarian) and made our way in. We got a table! and sat down. We took pictures, chatted, got drinks and waited for the dancefloor to get a bit fuller. During this time we had various interuptions from enthusaistic but rather overgroomed young Italian men. They were being nice, not pervy, so they didn't irritate me too much. Its just I still can't get used to the massive socialness, althought i've never been one for socialising in clubs. I think thats because, althought most people can't hear anything either, I have bigger problems because of my ears. Plus pubs and bars are for socialising, not clubs. I have no idea why so many people go to clubs with the expectation of pulling.
Enough ranting, on with the story. We brought a bottle of bubbly (not sure what type). We had to get it or pay for the table, and it was pretty expensive. I paid, even though I didn't drink it. Marco opened the bottle, with customary Italian florish. More drinking and chat. Eventually some people started to leave, and then we went on the dancefloor. As more and more people left it was just me and Lucie at about 1.30am dancing. We carried on late into the night and we got so tired that by the end we were just swaying around and being stubbon about not leaving until we had enough. I was still too full of food to feel very energetic. There was this really weird guy dancing by us as well. Julia went off with the guy who organised a table for us in the club. She got alot of attention, being very slim. We eventually went home, about an hour later than we normally would. I was utterly shattered.
Sunday not much happened. I slept late to catch up on sleep
Monday was the day of my exam. I woke up really early, as I always do when i'm worried and expect something. I stayed in bed until 7, and then set about getting myself ready for the exam. When I got there I had a stress trying to find the room, eventually I did and there were loads and loads of people there. I went to the next room and did revision as well as I could. Every half hour or so I would check on the queue, and it was always massive. Considering I arrived at 9, by the time it got to 12 I was very hungry and tired of waiting. When I checked the queue everyone had gone. I was confused and I saw in the room where the exams had been that there was a lecturers meeting. I asked at the main desk and apparnatly they had ran out of time. I have to do it another time. I suppose this suits me, as I was and still am very unprepared.
Monday was also Australia Day and I had been invited to a house party of some of my Aussie friends. When I went to go and see them I couldn't find where the road they live on was, despite having been down the road before. This resulted in me going up and down Via dell'independenza (a long main road) at least twice looking for it. I tried to phone said friends, but I have no credit on my phone. Eventually I gave up and came home again sadly.
Tuesday was very uneventful. I went food shopping, massive excitement! haha

I went food shopping, massive excitement! haha

Wednesday
Right! Now we get onto the interesting day.
I woke up really early, as I always do when I think that I have to be up early the night before. I didn't open my eyes and I could tell it was late. I tried to get back to sleep with no avail. Eventually after about an hour, or maybe half, I opened my eyes. My phone said it was half past 6am. I stayed in bed until 7, and then was bored enough to get up and get ready. An hour later I was showed, dressed, packed (with many things to keep me occupied on the train) and was off. I didn't have food in the flat so I went early to pam (supermarket) and got some bagettes. That kept me going. The train left at 5 to 9am, and I was happy about it. The train ticket was €25, which I consider a bit steep considering the euro and the pound are equal AND that is for a one way ticket.
The train journey passed tollerably. As we got nearer to Milan suddenly the countryside got snow covered. It started with bits of snowed shovelled to the edges of streets, and then became foggy snow covered fields! I was amazed! Bologna is nothing like that at the moment. I read sense and sensibilty. Liz rang me to tell me that she'd missed her train and therefore couldn't meet me until 45 mins after I arrived.
When I arrived I thought the station was cool. It was huge and reminded me of stations like York and Liverpool. I took a picture. I went outside into the piazza and was most unimpressed. I thought that the station would be in an impressive place, but it wasn't. There was a skyscaper for the Lombardia region there, and not much else interesting. The station was the most interesting thing there. It was cold so I decided to look for somewhere to go and consult my map. There were two macdonalds there, but I went down the main road I could see looking for a side road with a cafe. I did this for a while but it wasn't very fruitful. Eventually I found one. I sat down with a drink and my map, whilst marking a bunch of churches I wanted to see! Then I got a call from Liz to say that she'd arrived. I went to the loo, which was one of those hole in the floor ones!!! and then left.
I met up with Liz at the train station, it was nice to see her. I talked about going to the duomo, and she said we should take the metro. I was going to walk, but it looked a long way (we both have little legs) and it would be warmer underground. The metro reminded me alot of the underground in London, and the rest of Milan also had a London type busy and big feel. We got on the train and went to the Duomo. If you've seen pictures you know how OTT it is, but it was interesting nonetheless. We walked around it once and then wondered what to do. We then went off to walk to find another church. I started with the map reading, then I got confused and Liz took over. This was probably a bad plan. We got lost a few times, and then finally found what we had been looking for. It was pretty, but we couldn't go inside. On the way back we found a horse statue to look at, and then we went back to the Duomo, with another random church to see on the way. We got back to the Duomo and decided to look at the shops around about. We went into the prada shop, for amusment, and then into another shop. Then Liz's friend called about lunch (this is 2pm, so Italian lunchtime), we got ourselves on the train again.
When we arrived there Liz directed us until we found a park. From there we had no idea where to go, so we waited. Eventually Liz's friend Daniella arrived. Daniella is a really sweet primary school and middle school teacher. She also speaks pretty good english (I spoke to Liz about her own talking italian, and she said "nooo, no one ever hears me talk Italian). She chatted animatedly, as Italians do, about the children and the new marking system that is causing contention. As well as this, we went to this nice Indian deli type place and got samosas, bahjis and some rice chicken dish. It was v nice food, and she chatted on. One of her fellow teachers saw me and Liz from behind and confused us with being students. They have kids up to 13 there, and as both me and Liz are near the 5ft mark I can see maybe why that mistake was made. It was nice to see her though, and she generously paid for lunch. She then had a teachers meeting and me and Liz left.
We went back to the Duomo, as it seemed as good a place to start as any. I then pointed out another place on the map, and we decided to take a metro to it again. This involved chaging trains in the middle, but we managed. When we arrived we decided to go to the museum. This involved an hour of walking in both directions getting lost. Eventually we found it. As it was the last hour before closing we got in for free! They had an exhibit on the history of Milan, which was cool. It had tons of busts and some really cool moasics that you could get really close up to. They had an exhibition on the etruscans as well, so we went to that. It was only small, but it reminded me of a few things from my lectures. It counts as revision hehe. There was another room with a massive mosaic on the floor, which we looked at too. After this we went back and went to look at the church.
This was much easier to find as it was near the train station that we had come from. It was St Ambrogio, which I had learnt about in my course, and which is famous. When we arrived I spotted that there was a massive dig next to the church. Obviously the archaeologists had gone home (this was half past 5, and these are Italians) but we got to see the trench. Big hole, nothing interesting is what it looked like to me. We then went to the church. It had a beautiful courtyard to go through before you got to the doors. The belltowers also rang at one point. It was pretty, and I took a few pictures. Inside was similar to the outside, pretty and white. It had chapels along the sides. Some were more decorated than others. I took a picture of the nice mosaic on the apse ceiling, but there was a massive altar in the way for some of it. Spoilt the picture. We went all around, and then left.
After that we went back to the Duomo and rang Daniella, but her phone was still off. We sat in front of the duomo and watched people for a while. It was cold, but not uninteresting. There was an MTV Italia crew on one of the buildings filming the square. When a bunch of kids realised this they went to the place in the centre of the view of the camera and waved alot. Liz said she saw a man with a sword, but I wasn't sure, he did have a cloak on though and looked military and severe. We then got through to Daniella, and she took a good 45 mins to get to us. When she did, we went to the nearest fast food place, as the time was near for me to go. Liz got a pizza, I got us two burgerking. It was good enough, and I felt satiated. After that we got the metro to the main train station. It was half past 8 and the nearest train was at 9. It turned out that the ticket machines were closed for cash, so I had to go to the ticket office. They both left at this point.
I got my ticket and got on the train. I was quite tired. I read more sense and sensiblity for most of the way until it was half past ten and I was tired. After Modena (the last station before Bologna) I got all stressy that I had missed Bologna and that I was going to stay the night at some train depot. This was, however, just me being very tired and silly. When I got back to Bologna I thought about getting a taxi as I was so tired and cold. I didn't in the end though, and just walked home in the dark. I went almost straight to sleep

Montag (yes, we are being German today) with added Dienstag
Righty... yesterday.
EDIT:
So, I didn't get around to doing anything on that really did I? oh well. Monday I really didn't do anything really, or Tuesday. Am a hopeless person when it comes to revising.
On Tuesday I decided to go to Milan the next day. That evening I had Nicola (Aussie) and her friend over. We watched trainspotting. They were disgusted at parts of it. Its so much easier to watch when drunk. At least they kinda liked it though. Urgh, its really not a film to watch before you sleep

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
So I havn't updated, but thats because i've pretty much not been doing anything other than boring normal tasks that are boring. Yet again my perchant for stating the obvious comes out there! haha
I can't think of anything interesting I did during the whole weekend until the end. I got an Italian rock music magazine, which was interesting. I'm using it to expand my Italian. Its alot more useful than English magazines as it takes me so long to read it all and understand! Value for money.
Saturday night I arranged for Lucie to come over. We watched the DVD of cruel intentions. It was as good as I remember and Lucie liked it too.
Sunday night I went to the goth pub Translyvania. It has the best aperativo. I went with some Austrailians from my classes before christmas. It was great to chat to them. We talked about lots of things. I didn't realise that Austrailia gets alot of BBC TV. I was really happy about that. We talked about languages, about food, about people. It was a really great evening. It went on until quite late (half past 11ish) and then I went home (as did everyone else).
I can't think of anything else interesting. I'll keep you updated. I've certainly doing nothing of note today.

Tuesday and Wednesday
Tuesday I actually got my arse to the archaeology department to ask about exams. It seemed simple enough. I had a longish chat with the receptionist (which made me feel good about my italian). Basically I have an exam on the 26th, and my other lecturer for prehistory isn't back from christmas break yet. I'll have to find him later and ask about when the exam is.
I've also managed to finally fill my cupboard/fridge with food. Helpful.
Mostly during the day i've been re-reading the twilight books again. They're less full of tension and suspense, but they're still good.
Yesterday evening I went out! I met with Hannah, Christina and Lydia in this random Irish pub that I hadn't been to before. There were a bunch of old italian men next to us being loud and chatty. It was sweet. It was nice to catch up with Hannah. We chatted a bit about our hols. Hannah had been to Cuba, which was apparantly amazing. I chatted a bit about my holiday. Later on we discussed Lydia and her ex, and Hannahs new boyfriend. It was really nice to see them all again. We also disussed going to Milan-Bologna football match to see Beckham play, and also an Oasis concert.
After that I went to Hobby One and saw Lucie. It was v cool to see her again. I didn't realise how much i'd missed her. All the Belgians were there too. They left earlier than us, but it was still fun to dance until the end. I didn;t use my last drinks token either.
Thats all the news

Friday night and Saturday
Hey! Long time no type! I had an awesome Christmas break. Too much to blog about.
Friday Night I arrived back, had a quick chat to housemates. I stayed online, but didn't do too much and basically went to bed.
Saturday I went out early in my skirt as I needed breakfast. I got a comment about being cold, again. Later on that day I unpacked my clothes. I went to get money out to do a proper shop, but my card has been blocked internationally. Irritating.
Later on I went to see Lydia and Christina. It was really good to see them. We had couscous, fried veg and chicken. It was really tasty. After that we watched the Queen, which was a good film, and then Calender Girls. It was fun, but I left very late at night. I slept well
